Surprise! We Are Expanding Our Family!

NO NO NO! Get your mind off babies! We are not adding a baby to our family- we are adding a puppy! Ben recently found out that he is going to be the new Law Enforcement K-9 Officer for the department. This is a good and bad thing. Good, because this is Ben's dream. He has always (for as long as I have known him) wanted to be a drug and tracking dog handler. I am looking forward to him helping out on Search and Rescues finding missing people, finding people who run from officers and finding drugs. He will go into schools and do locker searches and keep fairly busy. Quincy will also acquire a new friend to play with and our yard and house is big enough for two dogs, but I think I am setting the limit at two.

The only bad part of this whole experience is Ben will have to be gone for five weeks in Ohio to train with the dog. Then they will both come home and the dog will be our pet when it is not working. Once it retires, it will stay with our family.

So, we have spent the better part of the last couple of weeks looking at Drug and Tracking Kennels all over the U.S. trying to find the right dog. Not much else is new. We had our 2 year anniversary on Monday, the 7th, and we are really enjoying Ben having Friday and Saturday nights off. The first time since we have been together that he has weekends off. I don't know what it's like to be with someone on Friday nights! I have always been alone.

The weather here has been pretty pleasant for January in Montana. It was so beautiful on Wednesday. I think it reached near the high 50's. Tomorrow if the weather is nice, Ben and I are taking a day trip with the 4- Wheelers into the Pryor Mountains right behind our house.

Hope everyone is doing great! Below are some pictures of some various breeds of dogs that Ben is looking into.
