The Mahoney/Schlemmer Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day was spent at my house. I was up early getting the table set and boiling potatoes. I had made the pasta salad, pumpkin spice mufflins, and tossed salad the day before. My mom and dad and brother Greg and his wife, Rachel were our guests along with my little sister Erin of course. My family has complained that they must not exist because I never post their pictures. What it really is, is that they live three miles away and I pretty much see them at least 3-4 times a week, and it is so routine that I never think to bring a camera along. But they are very special and I love that they are just a five minute car ride away. The table settings.
The desserts! Apple Crisp, brownies, cherry cheesecake, pumpkin spice muffins, lemon raspberry cheesecake and a pumpkin creme pie!

My dad, sister Erin (sitting) and Sister-in-law Rachel. As you can tell Erin is already sitting and starving!!

My dear ole dad!

And being funny for the camera.

Let's eat. My mom is the one sitting next to my brother Greg on the left

And this is what it looked like after hurricane "turkey" came through my kitchen!

The Mahoney Thanksgiving

This year we were fortunate enough to have two Thanksgivings. I guess there's a lot to be thankful for. We had dinner with Ben's family on Tuesday night, the 20th. We ate dinner at his grandparent's new house in Billings. Of course we ate too much, but it was fun, and on the way home, we took the back roads through the snow and it was neat to take a different route and see some very secluded scenery- even though it was dark- the snow reflected the light of the moon.
The kids climbing all over Kim.

What are you smirking at??

Bradley... say cheese.....

A Winter Wonderland

This was the snow at our house. This was taken on Wednesday morning, the day before Thanksgiving. As you can see, all of our fall decorations and pumpkins got snowed on!

This is a huge overgrown tree in our yard! We need to get it trimmed sooo bad!

Winter has come to Montana.....

Looking down Main St. in Red Lodge this morning- after a few plows had made their way through. Red Lodge received 12 inches of snow last night. We probably got about 6-8 at home. It took me a lot longer to get to work this morning. But the Subaru did beautiful! So glad we invested in an all wheel drive car! This is the view out in front of my office at the Courthouse this morning. This is the County Explorer that we drive.

Look at the snow still on the top of this Dodge truck after it had driven 4 miles into town!

Winter is here.... No more 60 degree November days that we were having!

Quincy goes hunting... and gets hurt- More hunting and Quincy gets a new friend

Here are some great fall pictures!
My kids... Aren't they cute! The shotgun is an old double barrel from Ben's grandpa that he had restored.

She is just so proud of her hunt!

But, hunting comes with a price, and Quincy got into some barbed wire. She had an 8 inch cut on her head

And an avulsion on her belly. But, she was happy, and after a little rest, was all healed up!

This is Mike, Ben's Brother-in-law. He got this buck with his bow just out of Red Lodge, where I work.
Bradley??? What does a dead deer look like????
This is Fred, my brother's new dog- Also a German Wirehaired Pointer- Best Cousins!

Fall Comes and Goes at the Mahoney House

I think that this is one of the prettiest trees we have. Even with no leaves, I think it's great!
Fall decorations and the paint job sure looks good!

What will greet you at our house! Come visit!!!

I think this is just a neat fall picture!

A Look Back......

I found some more pictures from our summer vacation at Georgetown Lake that I wanted to post. ( see above) They were on the memory card and I hadn't downloaded them yet. So, here are some pictures!! Also, even though I know that it's not the end of the year, I just wanted to get prepared for the first Ben and Sara Annual Newsletter. Ben's mom does one, but I feel that it only recognizes a glimpse of every one's lives as there are so many of us. So, here goes:

In January, Ben and I celebrated our 1st anniversary! Hooray- a whole year!! Ben also started his new job with the county as a deputy sheriff. He still loves his job and is very good at it! I am very proud of him. In February, I had my birthday and also got hired at Carbon County for the job I have now, as the Assistant County Planner. We also went to Dickinson, ND ( my first time there) to see Ben's brother Ryan and his family. March and April were pretty uneventful, but in May, I walked in the Montana State University commencement ceremony after having completed my Bachelor's Degree in December. We had everyone out at our house and it was a lot of fun. We made the second biggest purchase our married life in May, my new Subaru, and I have never regretted it! I love that car! Summer started before we knew it and Ben and I found ourselves both on the day shift for the first time in three years. A lot of sunsets watched and evening bike rides. Speaking of bike rides. Ben also got in a bike crash and cracked two ribs and had a serious case of road rash! A few weeks later- he cut the tendons in his hands ( see older posts). We held the first annual Ben and Sara Party for the Edgar Volunteer Fire Department's fireworks, with friends and family, only to find out later, it would be their last year of putting on the fireworks display. It was during this event that Quincy ran away and left us devastated for about 14 hours. She has stayed put ever since, and we now know she hates fireworks! We went away for the 4th of July to Yellowstone and had a little "family time" with Quincy. Our house saw a huge transformation from the outside (green to grey) and I finally finished everything about three months later! The first of August was here and gone and we spent nine days at Georgetown Lake with Ben's family and Erin, my little sister came along, too! It was a lot of fun, and hopefully next year will be even better! We took Ben's mom and dad over the Beartooth Pass for the first time for Labor Day Weekend and helped his grandparents make the move from Butte, the town they had lived in all their life, to Billings, so Grandpa could be closer to the doctors. That pretty much brings everything up to date. Ben just spent the better half of this week hunting with his brothers and dad. I will post those pictures later, I think they are on Ben's work camera. Next week, we will have two Thanksgivings and just the thought of that makes me full! On Tuesday we will eat with Ben's family, because all the men have to work on Thanksgiving. ( The lives of Cops and Paramedics) Thursday will be dinner with my family at our house. Just my mom, dad, brother and his wife, and Erin. Simple, relaxing, and fun. Ben works that night, so it'll be short and sweet! Our plans for December include Ben traveling to Glasgow for Law Enforcement training and a long weekend on Ben's birthday at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort for his family's annual holiday get together. Between that and special meetings, the New Year will be here before you know it.
